Procedure for Collecting Food Door to Door

Volunteers are given the Paper Food Bags to drop off bags at each home in a selected area during the day on a Tuesday, usually no later than 6:00 or 7:00 that evening. The paper bag explains that the volunteers will pick up the filled paper bag sometime after 9:00 AM on the following Saturday morning. These collected bags are taken to the cultural hall of the local church where the bags are emptied, sorted into boxes or containers to be quickly shipped over to the local Food Bank.

The posters are used throughout the community to ensure that everyone is aware of the weeks food drive. They are also distributed into businesses and grocery stores.

The Paper Bags and Posters are ordered as needed by each District throughout B.C. Their orders are emailed on the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive order form by June 15, to merlin@mercana.com
